Thanks, Case, let me pursue you on X. And yes, I see what you mean about the two triangles apexing at the coral tent. Interesting.

The structures up top...yes. The mystery continues.

About the pregnant woman in the bubble (painted after a bladder!).

This seems to be another one of Bosch’s parodies: the visit of Mary to Elisabeth, Luk.1:39-.

The illustration will I send via X.

Unfortunately I cannot add an illustration in my reaction on your Substack “Some Compositional Observations” of 7 Oct.2024.

I will place it on Twitter/X.

On the triangle in Eden I can agree. Was Bosch in Italy? ;-)

I would put the two triangles in Love Garden together, extending it slightly higher, ending at or rather in or besides the blood coral pointer.

It has not yet been given a meaning- if any. The pointed tent would make a nice topping.

The triangle form in Afterlife isn’t so clear. The “table” has the most meaning.

What I miss are the structures in the subtop area of Love Garden.

The Trapezium of the water is clear, with four rivers going from it. It’s mentioned in the Scripture of Genesis.

And Hieronymus Bosch was clearly inspired by the grouping of people in the trapezium meadows around the Lamb of God: four groups going from it.
